Miss Tourism regional beauties crowned

Karamoja

The regional event was held at Mt. Moroto Hotel, Moroto District. It was unique because two of the contestants Lapa Elma Challa and Vanessa Nangiro are daughters to political parents in the region, Hon. Esther Anyakun, Woman MP Nakapiripit, and Christine Nakwang, former woman MP Kaboong.

Lapa Elma Challa eventually won the contest, followed by her rival, Vanessa Nangiro, 21, and Joan Ursula Napeyok, 20 in first and second runner up positions respectively.

Karamoja

Northern

Gloria Alelle from Alebtong District in Lango sub-region is Miss Tourism Northern.

The 24-year-old Psychology graduate beat nine other contestants from different districts of Northern Uganda for the crown at the glamorous event held at Smiling Panda in Gulu town.

The beauty queens received packages from GOtv, Shea butter, among others.

Tina Aciro, a 22-year-old second year Education student at Gulu University was first runner-up, while Juliet Akech Ameny, interior designer from Oyam District, was the second runner-up.

Nothern

Kigezi

Melissa Amanya is the new Miss Tourism Kigezi. The 20-year-old beauty queen from Kanungu district won the coveted crown at an event held at White Horse Inn in Kabale district. Fortunate Natukunda, 22, from Kisoro district was the first runner-up and Janat Birungi, 22, from Kabale district was the second runner-up. The event was graced by the State Minister for Tourism, Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda who praised the region for being the best tourism destination in the country.

West Nile

In West Nile, Vibian Silivano Shana, 23, from Koboko district emerged winner with Gertrude Jokudu from Moyo coming second and Shamim Bako from Yumbe in third place.

Rwenzori

Miss Tourism Rwenzori Region crown was won by Doreen Biira, 23, from Kasese District while first Runner Up was Macklin Biira, and second Runner up was Mary Nakalema.

Busoga

In Busoga region, Shakira Nabirye, 24, from Butembe chiefdom was crowned queen, while Mary Nakimuli and Rashida Namulondo Muhamad, were first and second runner up respectively.
