Assignment Title: Rapid Assessment of Tourism Information Management System Needs.

The Government of Uganda has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.

 

The consulting services ("the Services") include Rapid Assessment of Tourism Information Management System Needs.

 

The assignment will require;

 

(i)  Carrying out an assessment of existing Information Management Practices under the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife & Antiquities and its related agencies including Uganda Wild Life Authority, Uganda Tourism Board, Uganda Wildlife Education  Centre, Hotel Tourism and Training Institute and Uganda Bureau of Statistics;

 

(ii)   Defining the information needs and gaps at the local and national level and;

 

(iii)   Preparing draft Terms of Reference for the subsequent implementation activities.

 

The estimated duration of the assignment will be 6 weeks.

 

The Private Sector Foundation Uganda under the Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Project now invites eligible individual consultants ("Consultants") to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Consultants should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services.

 

The shortlisting criteria are:

 

(1) experience of at least 10 years in the undertaking of similar assignments in similar conditions with evidence from clients;

 

(2) availability of appropriate skills/expertise with the individual Consultant including; possessing an advanced degree in Information Management, Statistics, ICT or related field.

 

(3) Experience working with developing countries and in tourism trends especially in Africa.

 

The attention of interested Consultants is drawn to paragraph 1.9 of the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants [under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits & Grants] by World Bank Borrowers January 2011 ("Consultant Guidelines"), setting forth the World Bank's policy on conflict of interest.

 

The consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures for Selection of Individual Consultants set out in the Consultant Guidelines.
